To supply the best information at mm1mum cost and in the shortest delay is one of the basic requirements to be fulfilled by Information Services. This paper refers to how to evaluate the costs of an Information Service; how to reduce those costs; whether they are to be charged to the users and, if so, how to do it. In addition, the parameters which define the quality of the Service are analyzed, as well as to what extent the Service is able to evaluate the quality of the information it supplies.
