The data base industry in Latin America

In Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries, a strong sentiment is gradually developing with regard to the importance of electronic information. The importance of electronic information acts as a decision making tool. In this way, Latín America is gradually evolving from a position of absolute dependance in information to an acceptable autonomy in this area. This article ofTers an analysis of the situation of databases in this Community based on the data collected in the Latín American Databases Census realized by the Fuinca Foundation in 1988.
