Information has become an essential resource for the development of all kinds of activities. lts absence, untruth, incompleteness or poor quality may damage those who depend upon it. In consequence, information professionals, being specialists for its provision, may have to be liable if, as a result of the supplying of services, the client or user is affected wrongly by it. By studying the main Spanish laws and the European directive draft concerned, this paper attempts to present and discuss the basic liability issues as they impinge on information professionals.
