Use of different databases for a competitive analysis of the medical equipment market

Teleaccess techniques were used to obtain online information from international databases by the Swiss Data-Star System and several CDROM databases were consulted for a complete competitive analysis in the high-tech medical equipment market, specifically in the Neurotechnology market. Important parameters of the leader companies were evaluated: product line, price and description oí these products, research and development trends of new products, general and financial company information and marketing estrategies, among others. The efficiency of different databases was determined related to the obtention oí the before mentioned parameters; the results obtained from each database are showed and recommendations about the more useful databases in this field are exposed. The main competitors in this industrial sector were classified according to their marketing strategies.
