Retrospective conversion in CSIC libraries

The article describes the process used to convert CSIC libraries card files in automatic files so that they can be integrated in the network's collective catalogue. The different methods are explained and are accompanied by a complete evaluation of the method, its advantages and disadvantages. In the general conclusions, the most important factors to be taken into account when tackling a retrospective conversion are covered, and the prevailing characteristics of the sector are described.
