Sorne general outlines are described about configuration of local area networks, as well as the network integration of CD-ROM applications. The features of the products available are analyzed and guidelines for their evaluation are given. lt is important to consider the specifications of the software and hardware needed. The paper is complcted with a presentation of the project developed at University Carlos III and sorne ideas about the main considerations and most frequent problems in a project like this.
