Summary of the historical development of hypertext and hypermedia systems, and explanation of both concepta. lntroduction to the development of hypermedia systems, configuration, functionality and organization of the information stored, as well as the major problema they preaent . As an example of hypermedia ayatema two projects are presented: American Memory and Project Emperor I.
