Abstract

This article presents descriptive results of the CAMPEONA project, the first systematic and freely accessible database of awards and awardees in Spain, which aims to contribute to the analysis of awards granted in the fields of research, culture, and the arts. The methodology and creation process is detailed, which has compiled a total of 672 awards, of which, 475 belong to the cultural and artistic fields, 188 to research, and 9 of a general nature. The specific analysis of research awardees (n=4085) reveals a higher number of awards granted to men (68.4%) than to women (31.6%), differentiates in recognitions of trajectories and specific works, as well as the institutions and researchers with more distinctions. In conclusion, CAMPEONA is a valuable documentary tool for the identification, analysis and objectification of awards in Spain, and offers a unique resource that has not been publicly and comprehensively accessible until now.
