The objective of this article is to analyze and describe the retractions of scientific articles whose authors or co-authors are affiliated with institutions in Latin American countries. The documents analyzed were obtained from the Retraction Watch database until December 5, 2024, adding a total of 614 records. Brazil is the country with the highest number of retractions (283). Until 2009, the number of retractions remained low; However, starting in 2010 it experienced a sustained increase, with 54.5% of cases attributed to misconduct or fraud. The study concludes that, although retractions in Latin America represent a smaller proportion compared to retractions worldwide and to the total number of scientific publications in the region, their analysis is fundamental due to the impact they have on the scientific community, on the credibility of science and on the professional practice of various disciplines.
