This study explores the performance of 11 members of the Mexican National Researchers System (SNI) in the library and information science fields. Bibliometric techniques were used on the basis of their CVs and their respective Iist of joumal papers obtained from the SNI CO-ROM version O and other domestic databases. Publication and citation counts were used as a tool of evaluation complemented with the identification of mainstream journals in which they published . Faced with a low rate of productivity, a low number of citations attracted and a trend to publish in domestic journals, the question remains: how should library and information science researchers be evaluated?
