The use of the META tag in libraries’ web sites

Positioning techniques are being used increasingly to obtain greater visibility for web sites. One of the tools for reaching this objective is provided by HTML itself: the META tags. This work details how they are developed and implemented, and includes an evaluation of their use by web servers from a sampling of national and international libraries.
