Abstract

A sample of 98 job advertisements for library and information work personnel published in two Spanish national newspapers between 1984 and 1994 is analysed. The results show that documentalist is the position more frequently offered by private companies. University degree qualifications and library science or information work training are generally required. More specific requirements include broad experience in library and information centres automation.
