Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the presence of researchers who are members of the editorial committees and boards of the Spanish literature journals that currently have the widest international circulation. A total of 29 journals included in the Web of Science (WoS), Scimago Journal and Country Ranking (SJR) and FECYT were analysed. The results indicate a greater presence of men (53.83%) compared to women (46.17%) in the editorial teams in terms of the number of signatures, as well as among journal directors or editors, 60.70% of men compared to 39.30% of women, all of which were statistically significant differences. Only in the position of editorial secretary is the number of women (73.10%) higher than that of men (26.90%). It can be concluded that there is a gender inequality in the number and positions held in the editorial teams of Spanish literature journals.
