Abstract

The top 500 Latin American universities according to Webindicators derived from search engines were selected in order to obtainwebometric data for the analysis of their commitment to the publication oftheir scientific effort in the Net. The target of the study were the rich files,a format usually devoted to documents intended to be used as scientific oracademic publications. Moreover, these file types are increasingly used bythe Latin American leader institutions as a mean for informal scholarlycommunication.
